Cultivating Bold Leaders for Illinois Agriculture

IALF logo

For over 40 years, the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation has been equipping leaders with the knowledge, skills, and connections to shape the future of agriculture—locally and globally.

Who We Are

The Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation (IALF) empowers emerging leaders to shape the future of agriculture and rural communities—across Illinois and well beyond. We believe that agriculture isn’t just an industry; it’s a cornerstone of society that demands thoughtful, informed, and visionary leadership.

Our mission is simple but profound: to develop leaders who shape the future of food and agriculture.

Through a carefully designed, immersive educational experience, participants engage with top minds in agriculture, business, government, and international affairs. They gain unparalleled access to industry insights, policy-making environments, and leadership frameworks that prepare them to take on critical roles in their communities, industries, and global networks.

But we don’t stop there.

Participants become part of a dynamic and supportive alumni network—a community of leaders who understand the value of connection, collaboration, and lifelong learning. This network extends IALF’s impact across sectors and generations, creating a ripple effect of leadership and service.

At IALF, we are growing leaders who don’t just adapt to the future—they help create it.

"Gaining an inside look into the food and agriculture sector—from Flamm Orchards and Gilster-Mary Lee Corp in Southern Illinois to ADM headquarters in Chicago and Capitol Hill—has allowed me to bring real-world realities directly into my classroom and research. Connecting with my class fellows has already created tangible opportunities, like bringing one in as a guest speaker and working with another to establish a student scholarship. On a personal level, the program has taught me the invaluable leadership skills of listening to understand and effectively telling my story."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time and experience in the Ag Leadership program. Not only was I able to network with individuals in the class, but also alumni and others in programs from other states. The program has continued to create great experiences and opportunities for me in Illinois and throughout my career."
